Thekla has said she loves being compared to the late Luna Vachon, calling the legendary character a badass and embracing the idea of carrying on her legacy.
Speaking at the Double or Nothing post-show media scrum after retaining the AEW Women’s World Championship in a four-way over Hikaru Shida, Jamie Hayter and Kris Statlander, Thekla was asked about the visual similarities between her character and Vachon’s iconic look.
“That was not on purpose. I’ve heard that comparison a lot, and I love it. I’ve never not liked hearing that. Every time someone says, ‘She’s the new Luna Vachon,’ I go, ‘Yeah.’ That’s cool. I love being the reincarnation, to some extent, of Luna because she was a badass.”
She also revealed CMLL President Salvador Lutteroth — who was in attendance at Louis Armstrong Stadium on Sunday — approached her about coming to Mexico. “I actually saw him in Vegas, too. He came up shaking my hand before noon. I was like, ‘Oh man, the president is here!’ He was like, ‘We’d love to have you.’ I was like, ‘You know, the gold is heavy. We’ve gotta ask TK.’ I’d love to be back there, honestly.”
Luna Vachon was a WWE and ECW performer known for her striking appearance and groundbreaking work in women’s wrestling. She passed away in 2010.
