AEW announced on Saturday’s Collision that a six-woman Survival of the Fittest match will determine the new AEW TBS Champion on the July 1 episode of Dynamite in San Diego at the Viejas Arena.
Six qualifying matches will take place between now and July 1. The six winners advance to the Survival of the Fittest, which is an elimination-style match where the last woman standing is crowned champion. It is the first time AEW has booked a Survival of the Fittest match — the format originated in Ring of Honor, where a version was used at ROH Supercard of Honor last month.
The title has been vacant since Willow Nightingale relinquished it on the May 21 Dynamite due to a shoulder injury. She had held it for 140 days.
