Chad Gable launched a nine-part YouTube documentary series detailing his 2025 shoulder injury and recovery. In the first episode, he revealed that the left rotator cuff surgery he required was a surprise finding — he went in to check on a right arm issue and came out with a far bigger problem.
The injury chain started in October 2024 during a house show in the UK against Gunther, when Gable suffered a slight tear of his right bicep tendon. He continued wrestling and training but his right arm progressively worsened. After getting an MRI, doctors found the right arm was “a mess” — but when he had his left shoulder imaged due to a nagging issue, they discovered a fully torn left rotator cuff requiring surgery.
Gable returned at the 2026 Royal Rumble as the Original El Grande Americano and went on to have what many are calling the match of the year in his mask vs. mask bout against Ludwig Kaiser at AAA Noche de Los Grandes last weekend, which he lost.
