Steve Maclin had hoped to keep his TNA departure quiet, but TNA issued a press release announcing it without consulting him or Myla Grace beforehand, per Fightful Select. TNA rarely issues public releases for departures.
Fightful reported that Maclin had been vocal about creative issues at TNA and did not feel the direction improved after the company’s move to AMC earlier this year. Pay scale was also cited as an internal concern, though Fightful noted the majority of TNA talent are no longer on full-time deals even after the network change.
Both Maclin and Grace are expected to have interest from other companies.
Maclin had been re-signed in storyline by Director of Authority Santino Marella after being fired as part of a Feast or Fired angle. He then attacked Mike Santana, who demanded he be rehired for a match. Their eventual title match ended abruptly when Maclin suffered an injury.
