AJ Lee is not expected to return to WWE in the near future, per WrestleVotes on WrestleVotes Live. The report noted that WWE’s plans for Lee were effectively wrapped up after WrestleMania 42 but that the company holds hope she could return for future appearances, potentially around major events like SummerSlam.
Lee appeared to echo that framing herself. At the WrestleMania 42 post-show, she said: “This is not goodbye, but I’ll see you soon, I hope.”
Lee came out of a ten-year retirement for a run that began in September 2025, built around a program with Becky Lynch. She and CM Punk defeated Seth Rollins and Lynch at Wrestlepalooza, and she made Lynch submit at Survivor Series 2025 to win her team’s WarGames match. She won the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Elimination Chamber 2026 and dropped it back to Lynch at WrestleMania 42 after a 49-day reign.
