Sami Callihan revealed on Busted Open Radio that he strongly pushed back during the Zoom call in which TNA released him, saying he “went off” after realizing he was being let go rather than offered a creative role.
“So I get on the Zoom call and they start talking. I was like, in my mind, maybe I’m still getting added. And then it came to, ‘We’re sorry, we’re gonna have to part ways.’ And I kind of went off,” Callihan said. “I stated my case. I was like, ‘Hey, this is why I think you’re making a terrible mistake. I’ve given my life to that company. There has been multiple times where I could have left. I broke my leg for that company. I was World Champion for that company. I love TNA. TNA was my end-all, be-all.'”
Callihan said he was told the release was part of the company’s workforce reduction, which he pushed back on directly: “I went, ‘That should not be me. That’s not me. That should not be me in a million years.'”
He later reached out to TNA President Carlos Silva to apologize for how he handled the call.
