TNA is planning to introduce a new mid-card Knockouts championship, with Dave Meltzer confirming on Wrestling Observer Radio that it will be a Women’s TV Championship. An announcement is expected by the end of the week, possibly at Slammiversary on Sunday.
“The story is they’re going to announce it by the end of the week, probably at the pay-per-view. But yes, TNA Women’s TV Title,” Meltzer said.
Fightful Select had first reported the new title was being pitched. The announcement comes during a period of significant change in TNA creative following Tommy Dreamer’s departure. Creative is now headed by Hunter “Delirious” Johnston and Eric Tompkins, with Road Dogg expected at Slammiversary and potentially joining the team.
TNA currently has two women’s titles: the Knockouts World Championship (held by Lei Ying Lee) and the Knockouts World Tag Team Championships (held by The Elegance Brand).
