Cody Rhodes defeated Jey Uso in a number one contender’s match on SmackDown to earn an immediate WWE Championship rematch against Sami Zayn on the July 6 Raw in Chicago, per F4WOnline.
Zayn opened SmackDown to discuss his Night of Champions title win before Rhodes and then Uso both interrupted to make their respective cases. Interim SmackDown GM Adam Pearce booked the number one contender’s match, which Rhodes won by pinning Uso following a Crossroads.
Backstage, Zayn complained to Pearce that he was a SmackDown wrestler and questioned why he would have to defend the championship on Raw. Pearce responded by designating July 6 a supershow featuring wrestlers from both brands.
Also set for July 6 Raw: Street Profits defend the World Tag Team Championships against Bron Breakker and Austin Theory.
