Tay Melo requested her release from AEW last year and was denied, according to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer. The report came in an update on the status of Melo’s husband, Sammy Guevara, who removed all mentions of AEW from his X bio on Monday night.
“Nobody in AEW seems to know what’s up with Sammy Guevara right now. Multiple sources told me that Tay Melo requested a release last year but it was denied. It’s expected we will know what’s up when everyone gets to TV tomorrow.”
Guevara remains listed on the AEW roster page. He was presented as one of AEW’s four pillars at the company’s launch in 2019, and his television appearances have been infrequent in recent months.
Melo returned to AEW television alongside Anna Jay in May after six months away. The two most recently teamed on the June 6 episode of Collision against Divine Dominion.
