Willow Nightingale spoke about her mental health after winning the AEW Women’s World Championship at Redemption, saying she got help through AEW over the past year. Nightingale and others took questions at the post-show media scrum in Montreal.
Nightingale said she self-diagnosed with depression while dealing with issues over the past year, and that being a happy, smiling person around the clock is unrealistic. She said wrestling brings her joy. She added that she was desperate to make Double or Nothing but could not, later revealing the injury was an AC sprain. Tony Khan said she could not lift her arm at the time, and that AEW would hold a celebration for her on Wednesday.
Khan said several moments at Redemption built toward All In London, including three matches announced for the show. Asked what he would tell his 2019 self, Khan grew emotional discussing the deaths of Brodie Lee and Jay Briscoe, saying he learned from both and that the Brodie Lee tribute was the best show AEW has done.
Khan also said an AEW podcast network is coming soon, that visa issues affecting Komander, The Beast Mortos, El Clon, and Mark Davis have eased, and that Mistico remains out after being attacked at Arena Mexico, with a hope he can make Grand Slam Mexico. Khan said he remains interested in a sequel to the Fight Forever video game.
