Will Ospreay will wrestle his first-ever singles match at Arena Mexico when he faces Mark Davis at AEW Grand Slam Mexico. Davis, the now-former National Champion, issued the challenge in a backstage promo on Dynamite, saying there would be no interference from the Don Callis Family.
It will be their fifth singles meeting and fourth in AEW, with Ospreay leading the series 3-1. He beat Davis in an Owen Hart Foundation semifinal in June. Ospreay challenges Kenny Omega for the AEW World Title at All In next month.
A trios match was also added, with AEW Women’s World Champion Willow Nightingale and The Brawling Birds facing Mercedes Mone and AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion. Mone and Divine Dominion broke up Nightingale’s title celebration on Wednesday before the Brawling Birds made the save. Nightingale defends against Mone at All In.
Grand Slam Mexico takes place next Wednesday at Arena Mexico, AEW’s second event at the venue through its CMLL partnership.
