AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio says it is his birthright to be the one who retires his father, Rey Mysterio, from WWE. Speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, Dominik pushed back on earlier rumors of a father-son retirement match at WrestleMania 42, saying no such talks ever happened, but that he has been pushing for it.
“I don’t think there was ever any talks for it, but I’ve been talking about it. I want him out of here. Now even with my sister coming in, there’s only room for so many Mysterios. There’s one pushing 60, and I think it’s time for him to kick rocks; that’s just how I see it.”
“It has to be. I don’t see any other way for it. I genuinely don’t. It’s my birthright. I will lose my absolute —- if it’s not me. I have to do it; it’s the only way possible. I gotta take his mask, and I gotta take his name.”
Dominik said his preferred setting would be Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez in Tijuana, an arena where his father and other family members have wrestled. Rey Mysterio is 51. Recent reports say Dominik’s sister, Aalyah, is also potentially heading to the WWE Performance Center.
