AEW has announced a new tournament, the Continental Cup, that will run to All In London. The tournament was confirmed on Thursday’s Collision, clearing up confusion after Continental Champion Jon Moxley referenced the “Continental Cup” twice in a promo on Wednesday’s Dynamite, separate from the winter’s annual Continental Classic.
The 16-man tournament kicks off next Saturday and features a field drawn at random. Moxley will take part, and Nigel McGuinness appears set to be involved based on his comments Thursday. Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone will announce the full field on Monday via AEW’s YouTube channel.
The final at Wembley Stadium will be for both the Continental Championship and the new Continental Cup.
Moxley is AEW’s third Continental Champion, after Eddie Kingston and Kazuchika Okada. He won the title by taking last year’s Continental Classic, beating Okada in the final at Worlds End, and has defended it seven times since.
