Dave Meltzer said he has never heard of AEW refusing to hire anyone over their politics, after Road Dogg claimed his beliefs were the reason he was turned away from the company.
The WWE Hall of Famer and former WWE creative team member made the claim during an argument with Meltzer on X, writing that he was “turned away because of my political/core beliefs.” The exchange began as a disagreement over The Gunns, with Road Dogg arguing the AEW World Tag Team Championships were beneath Austin and Colten Gunn and Meltzer defending the division, before it turned to the question of Road Dogg working for AEW.
Meltzer answered the hiring claim on Wrestling Observer Radio.
“There are many people in AEW that have conservative viewpoints and I have never heard of anyone not being hired by AEW based on political viewpoints in one direction or the other.”
Road Dogg has not offered anything further publicly to support the claim. He recently left WWE, where he had worked in a backstage role.
