Jeff Jarrett says Memphis wrestling never considered a mega show in a college football stadium because of his father’s approach to the business.
On My World with Jeff Jarrett, Jarrett was asked whether the territory ever thought about running a show at a venue like the University of Memphis’ football stadium.
“Hell no,” Jarrett said. “His fundamental philosophy was different. He had to make money 52 weeks a year, and his entire philosophy was built around if you make a particular Monday night or a big show happen, that leading up to it, you’re probably going to do good to really good, and then the following 30, 60, 90 days after it sometimes are hard to recover.”
Jarrett said Jerry Jarrett wanted every town on the loop to stay strong.
“His philosophy was, I want to be strong all 52 weeks a year because my ratings need to be strong. My loop, not just the one town, the entire loop.”
“So no stadiums. No, we did shows at baseball stadiums, but I think you’re talking about a mega show. So no, sir.”
