Conrad Thompson says his criticism of Roman Reigns has nothing to do with AEW or getting clicks.
Thompson spoke with Sean Ross Sapp on the Fightful Wrestling Podcast. He was asked about Reigns’ comments on the October 14 episode of Club Shay Shay, where Reigns said Thompson was using his name to get views and pointed to who Thompson is connected to.
“I shared my opinion about Roman, that I was ready for something new. And then everyone else started talking about it,” Thompson said. “And that’s what I kind of found so silly is if my opinion is so ridiculous, and I’m so irrelevant, then why the hell is everybody still talking about it?”
Thompson said that if he wanted clicks, “all of my podcasts for the last two months would have had Roman in the thumbnails, and we would have been talking about that. But that wasn’t my intent.”
He pointed to his ties to WWE, including his sister-in-law Charlotte Flair and Cody Rhodes.
“I’m Switzerland. I just shared my personal wrestling opinion, and people got bent out of shape about it. I found it amusing.”
Thompson called Reigns “the most overrated main eventer in WWE history” on 83 Weeks in August.
