The Intercontinental title belt that Ricky Steamboat won from Randy Savage at WrestleMania III sold for $716,750 at Heritage Auctions on October 24.
The price, from Heritage’s Fall Sports Catalog Auction, includes a 22 percent buyer’s premium on a final bid of $587,500. The belt was owned by Conrad Thompson, who got it from WWE in 2020 in a trade for the original Intercontinental Championship belt worn by Pat Patterson.
The belt was used from 1985 to 1988, including during the reigns of Tito Santana and The Honky Tonk Man.
It is reportedly the highest price paid for a championship belt at auction. Hulk Hogan’s WrestleMania II WWE Championship belt sold for $414,800 this summer, and Hogan’s boots from the first WrestleMania sold for $1,037,000 in February, the highest price on record for wrestling memorabilia.
“We set a record! Thank you!” Thompson posted on X.
