Kevin Knight Finds Surprising Similarities in Training Under Two Stars

AEW’s recent acquisition, Kevin Knight, has a unique perspective, having trained under both AEW’s Katsuyori Shibata and WWE’s Natalya Neidhart. In a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez, Knight revealed unexpected parallels in their teaching styles. “The same things that Shibata was teaching is the same thing that Natty and TJ [Wilson] were teaching over at the Dungeon,” Knight explained.

He elaborated on the core principles, stating, “Using your voice, having that heart, having that energy, having that — she called it ‘that f*** you,’ you know what I mean? Having that whatever it is that’s going to bring it out of you, that the crowd is really going to feel.” Knight clarified that the “dungeon” he referred to is Natalya and TJ Wilson’s Florida-based training school, distinct from the Hart Family Dungeon.

Reflecting on his time at the NJPW dojo, Knight noted Shibata’s emphasis on fundamentals, while his training with Natalya and Wilson underscored the vital role of promos in connecting with the audience, a lesson he values from both distinct training environments.
