Two of AEW’s biggest international stars, Will Ospreay and current AEW International Champion Kenny Omega, are reportedly planned for major roles at the upcoming AEW Grand Slam: Mexico event, though not in a widely anticipated singles encounter against one another. The information comes via a recent Wrestling Observer Radio report.
While specific matches for Ospreay and Omega have not yet been officially announced by AEW, both wrestlers are heavily featured in the promotional materials for the special Dynamite broadcast from Mexico City. This strongly suggests their significant involvement in the crossover show with CMLL.
The report clarifies that despite their prominence and the dream match potential, the current plans do not involve Ospreay and Omega facing each other at this particular event. Instead, it’s expected they will be slotted into separate high-profile matches or segments, likely involving talent from CMLL as part of the collaborative showcase.
AEW Grand Slam: Mexico is scheduled to air live as a special episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 8:00 PM EST. The event will also be simulcast on Max, bringing this unique international spectacle to a wide audience.
