AEW President Tony Khan has publicly urged his company’s fanbase to be open and welcoming towards WWE fans who are expressing interest in watching All Elite Wrestling. His comments came in response to a fan on X who questioned whether AEW should remain “exclusive” or allow new viewers in.
The fan wrote on X, “Lately fed fans [WWE fans] are asking questions about AEW and wanting to watch it. Should we gatekeep this promotion or letting them in?” Khan’s reply was direct and unambiguous.
“Please gatekeep nothing, sir. Please welcome these people to AEW with arms wide open,” Khan stated. This message from the AEW President addresses the sometimes-contentious online discourse between segments of the two major promotions’ fanbases.
Since AEW’s debut in 2019, “fan wars” have been a persistent feature of the wrestling landscape, with many supporters choosing distinct loyalties. However, Tony Khan’s statement indicates a clear desire to grow AEW’s audience by being inclusive, suggesting that any rivalry should not extend to discouraging potential new WWE fans from exploring his product.
Please gatekeep nothing, sir.
Please welcome these people to AEW with arms wide open.
