The popular and acclaimed documentary series, “Dark Side of the Ring,” has reportedly been renewed for a seventh season by Vice TV. According to a new report from PWInsider on Tuesday, not only has the show been greenlit for another season, but production is already underway, with the series having recently filmed in Louisville, Kentucky. The renewal is welcome news for wrestling fans, as the docuseries has become a cultural phenomenon, known for its in-depth and often-unflinching look at some of the most controversial and tragic stories in the history of professional wrestling. Since its debut in April 2019, the show has been a consistent ratings success and a major topic of conversation online.
The sixth season of the series, which premiered in March of this year, continued the show’s tradition of exploring compelling and often-dark subjects, with episodes focused on the lives and careers of figures such as Superstar Billy Graham, Billy Jack Haynes, Daffney, Ludvig Borga, and Muhammad Hassan. Over the years, the series has covered some of the most infamous incidents in wrestling history, including the death of Owen Hart and the Chris Benoit double murder-suicide, earning praise for its investigative journalism and emotional storytelling. The success of the “Dark Side” formula has also led Vice TV to create several spin-off series, including “Dark Side of the 90s,” “Dark Side of Comedy,” and “Dark Side of the 2000s.” No official premiere date for the seventh season has been announced.
