A new report from the wrestling journalist Ibou has provided more backstage details on the shocking implosion of The Vision faction that closed this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. The angle, which saw Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed turn on their leader, Seth Rollins, was reportedly the only major rewrite to the show. The turn was a creative decision made out of necessity, as it was done to write Rollins off of television after he suffered a legitimate shoulder injury at the WWE Super Show-Down: Perth Premium Live Event. The report indicates that the rest of the show went on as originally planned, with the turn being added to the conclusion of the main event segment.
According to the report, a backstage segment featuring The Vision was already planned for the show. However, after the decision was made to write Rollins off, the creative team simply added the attack to the end of the show to facilitate the turn.
“According to Ibou, WWE did no major rewrites until the end of the show. Creative already planned the backstage segment featuring the Vision; WWE simply added the ending to the show to trigger the turn.”
The report also revealed a fascinating detail about the original long-term plans for the group.
“The report states that Bron Breakker’s turn was supposed to happen months later. Ibou says that plans had Brock Lesnar being part of the angle so he could work with Breakker.”
WWE has not yet made a decision on the future of the World Heavyweight Championship, which is currently held by the injured Seth Rollins.
