It is good to be “The CEO” of professional wrestling. As previously reported, tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite will feature a special celebration for the reigning AEW TBS Champion, Mercedes Moné, who has been on a historic run, recently capturing her 12th concurrent wrestling championship. The “12 Belts Moné” celebration is being hyped as a massive event for the company’s weekly flagship show, and Moné herself has taken to social media to comment on the festivities. The celebration acknowledges her unprecedented success as she continues her global “belt collector” tour.
Moné has had an incredibly busy and successful week. Last Friday, she was in Mexico City, where she successfully defended her CMLL Women’s World Championship against Persephone at the Viernes Espectacular show. The very next night, she competed at the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view in St. Louis, where she defeated ROH Women’s World Television Champion Mina Shirakawa in a title-for-title open challenge to win her 11th belt. Just 24 hours later, on Sunday, Moné jetted to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, where she defeated TNA star Jody Threat to capture the Winnipeg Professional Wrestling Women’s Championship, her 12th title.
With this stunning collection of championships, Moné has smashed the long-standing modern record for most titles held simultaneously. She commented on tonight’s planned celebration on her X (formerly Twitter) account, writing:
“The BIGGEST celebration in AEW history! #AEWDynamite.”
Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite will air live from the Boeing Center at TechPort in San Antonio, Texas, at 8:00 PM EST on TBS and will also be simulcast on HBO Max. The show is loaded with major matches, including two championship bouts. The AEW World Trios Champions, The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, & Katsuyori Shibata), will defend their titles against The Hurt Syndicate (Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley, & MVP), who earned the shot by winning at WrestleDream. Also, AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada will defend his title against Bandido. In addition to Moné’s celebration, the bracket for the inaugural AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship tournament will also be revealed.
