The 2025 AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view was a critical success, but the event was marred by significant technical issues for viewers on Amazon Prime, which ultimately resulted in a financial hit for the company. According to a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the event generated between 115,000 and 125,000 pay-per-view buys, a number that was “in line with” the company’s expectations.
However, due to the widespread technical glitches that caused the feed to cut out for many viewers, Amazon Prime issued full refunds to customers who ordered the show. Meltzer reports that this move resulted in a 14.4 percent loss in revenue for the event. The report notes that this financial hit would have been “more significant” if the show had taken place before AEW pay-per-views were also made available on the HBO Max streaming service.
WrestleDream was an action-packed show that saw “Hangman” Adam Page and Kris Statlander retain their World Championships. It also featured Mercedes Moné capturing her 11th concurrent title, The Hurt Syndicate earning a World Trios Title shot, and the shocking return of Sting, who helped Darby Allin defeat Jon Moxley in a brutal “I Quit” main event.
