Liv Morgan is currently one of the top stars in WWE, but a few years ago, she feared her career was over in the blink of an eye.
In 2023, Morgan was arrested in Florida for possession of marijuana and a synthetic marijuana vape. Her mugshot quickly went viral, becoming a major talking point online. Recently appearing on What’s Your Story? With Steph McMahon, Morgan opened up about the incident and the immediate panic she felt regarding her status with WWE.
“Right away, I’m like, ‘I am gonna get fired.’ I am so upset, ‘I’m gonna get fired. I spent my whole life being good. I get arrested one time, and it’s not even my fault… even though it is. I am gonna get fired,’” Morgan recalled.
She noted that her biggest concern wasn’t just losing her job, but losing her ability to participate in WWE’s charitable efforts, something she holds dear.
“The thing I thought the most was like, you know, the community work we do here. I love doing community work. I always get chosen to do the community work. I’ll not be able to do the community work,” she said. “I am like, ‘so sad, work’s gonna fire me, and I just ruined everything. I spent my whole life for this one goal, and now everything is squandered.’ I was so upset.”
Morgan also shared details about her release, revealing that she had to rely on her mother to help her post bail.
“I bailed myself out of jail, which is why I’m not in the orange [jumpsuit]… I had called my mom and was like, ‘Mom, if you can wire the money, let’s go. Get me out of here.’ Like this was my fund; I pretty much bailed myself out of jail.”
Fortunately for Morgan, the incident did not derail her career. She has since returned to prominence, most recently defeating Lyra Valkyria on Raw in her return to the ring. With rumors swirling about a major push heading into WrestleMania 42, Morgan has firmly put the past behind her.
