The field is set to determine who will face Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.
Following McIntyre’s controversial victory over Cody Rhodes in a “Three Stages of Hell” match last week—aided by Jacob Fatu—WWE announced a four-way match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 24 to crown the new number one contender. The participants were decided via qualifying matches on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.
Qualifying Results:
Randy Orton defeated The Miz (who attacked Orton earlier in the night after a confrontation with McIntyre and Fatu).
Trick Williams defeated Matt Cardona.
Damian Priest defeated Solo Sikoa (with help from the Wyatt Sicks neutralizing The MFTs).
Sami Zayn defeated Ilja Dragunov in the main event.
The stage is now set for Montreal, where Orton, Williams, Priest, and Zayn will collide. The winner will book their ticket to Saudi Arabia on January 31 to challenge McIntyre for the richest prize in the game.
