The landscape of the WWE women’s tag team division experienced a seismic shift during the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown. The powerhouse alliance of Nia Jax and Lash Legend, collectively known as The Irresistible Forces, successfully defeated Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY to capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships for the very first time.
A Devastating Finish Crowns New Champions
The climax of the hard-hitting championship bout saw Ripley take control by tagging in and flattening Jax with her signature Riptide maneuver. However, the momentum shifted instantly when Legend blind-tagged her partner. Attacking from behind, Legend hoisted Ripley up and drove her into the mat with the devastating Lash Extension, securing the pinfall victory and the gold for her team.
In a backstage interview following the match, the victorious duo celebrated their dominant performance. Jax highlighted her growing legacy, noting that this victory marks her third reign as a Tag Team Champion. For Lash Legend, the win represents a massive career milestone, serving as her first championship since being called up to the main roster last fall. The new champions boldly announced that they will host an official championship celebration on next week’s broadcast.
Jax and Legend officially formed their alliance late last year and recently adopted “The Irresistible Forces” moniker as a nod to Jax’s long-standing nickname. Their rivalry with the former champions reached a boiling point during the February 13 edition of SmackDown, which ended in a chaotic no-contest when all four women engaged in a wild brawl outside the ring. The defeat ends Ripley and SKY’s reign at 54 days, having originally captured the titles from The Kabuki Warriors on the January 5 edition of Monday Night Raw.
