The tag team divisions on Friday Night SmackDown were thrown into chaos as new challengers emerged for both the men’s and women’s championships. Following a night of impromptu matches and grueling gauntlets, the number one contenders are officially locked in.
Tag Team Turmoil and Impromptu Showdowns
In the women’s division, the newly crowned champions, The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax and Lash Legend), found themselves immediately targeted during their celebration. Both the team of Giulia and Kiana James, and the returning duo of Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, marched to the ring to stake their claim. General Manager Nick Aldis quickly intervened, booking an impromptu number one contender’s match between the two challenging teams. The veteran experience of Flair and Bliss proved too much, as Flair hit Giulia with the Natural Selection to secure the victory and the future title shot.
The men’s division featured a grueling Tag Team Turmoil match to determine the next challengers for the MFTs. The grueling bout saw The Motor City Machine Guns eliminated early by Fraxiom, who were subsequently tossed by Los Garza. The Wyatt Sicks appeared dominant until a shocking interference from Tama Tonga allowed Berto to roll up Dexter Lumis for an upset elimination.
The final entrants, Damian Priest and R-Truth, capitalized on the exhausted Los Garza. Priest and Truth worked together to score the decisive pinfall, officially becoming the new number one contenders and securing a highly anticipated future championship match.
