Samoa Joe said the wrestling locker room benefits more from honest people than from self-appointed leaders.
Speaking during a Dark Side of the Ring Q&A on Vice TV, the former AEW World Champion was asked about the idea of being a locker room leader.
“Being a locker room leader, I think leader is a weird term. I think there are certain people whose opinion people value. If I happen to be one of those people in the locker room, awesome,” Joe said.
“I’m never one to force my opinion on everybody, but if you ask for it, I will state it, and you can do what you want with it. I think just having, not leaders, but honest people in your locker room is very valuable. I just try to maintain that, if anything.”
Joe, 47, has been wrestling since 2000 and held world titles in TNA and AEW during runs that also took him through Ring of Honor and WWE. He has not appeared on AEW programming in several months.
