Dustin Rhodes made his X account private after apologizing for interacting with a post that drew criticism for its anti-Islam and anti-transgender messaging.
Rhodes had reacted approvingly to a post showing a woman wearing a shirt with a women’s bathroom symbol and the phrase “come and take it,” with a caption containing anti-Islam rhetoric.
TNA’s Mustafa Ali, who is Muslim, responded to Rhodes directly. “I respect you and your family immensely. You showing support to something like this is really disappointing,” Ali wrote.
Rhodes deleted the interaction and said he had reacted to the photo without reading the caption, with his attention on the firearm pictured.
“My apologies @MustafaAli_X. I am not that person. Genuinely like the photo. Did not read caption and don’t agree with that at all,” Rhodes wrote.
“I appreciate the apology; please be careful about anti-whatever rhetoric posts. Normalizing it is dangerous for all of us. Be well, Dustin,” Ali replied.
Rhodes also apologized to fans, said he is “100% against” the message in the original post, and later wrote, “Think I’m gonna quit this app.” His account has since been set to private.
