Jeff Jarrett said the unanswered question of who Paul Heyman is calling is basic television that still works, and that Bronson Reed’s return got Bron Breakker and Oba Femi out of a booking corner.
Reed returned at Sunday Night’s Main Event, attacking Femi during his match with Breakker and turning it into a no contest.
“I hate to just call it like it’s a down and dirty basic, but it is. It’s the who done it, who’s behind it? I can’t say it always works, but it certainly is kind of a go-to, and Heyman is fantastic in it,” Jarrett said on My World with Jeff Jarrett.
He said putting two up-and-comers in a high-profile match carries a risk that Reed’s return solved.
“A lot of times from a creative process, when you book the up-and-comers, if you will, sometimes when they face off in a high-profile match, you can book yourself in a corner. But they had the Bronson Reed, and it delivered. He looked great,” Jarrett said.
Jarrett was also asked about criticism that WWE’s top of the card skews older.
“That always happens, and it’s like, hey guys, it’s a 52 week a year model we’re into, so there are going to be some months where it skews high, and then next thing you know, we’re going to turn around and say, ‘Oh my God, all these young guys, who are they?’ It’s just the ebb and flow of it. It’s just kind of the nature of our business,” he said.
