AEW’s decision to announce Blood & Guts 2026 months before a clear storyline had developed reportedly came down to ticket sales.
The company confirmed that Blood & Guts will take place November 4, despite no obvious feud yet building toward the signature double-ring, double-cage match, a departure from how the match has traditionally been introduced as the culmination of a major rivalry. Sean Ross Sapp addressed the situation on a recent episode of The Hump, saying he asked people within AEW why the event was announced before the story behind it was established.
Sapp said people in AEW explained it to him this way: “Ideally we would like it to be like that, but the show is less than two months away and we got to get tickets on sale, and there’s one configuration that could possibly be for, so we might as well promote it from the jump and get those tickets sold.”
