Cody Rhodes says he learned of the birth of his child while lying on the floor of the Street Fighter set.
Speaking with Fandango alongside his Street Fighter castmates, Rhodes confirmed he was not at the hospital and described where he was instead, saying, “I was laying in a body pool, multiple men just laying on one another. We had been taken out by Bison’s crew.”
Rhodes said he checked his phone during the take and found the news waiting for him, saying, “But then I look down at my phone and my child had been born.” He said his reaction was muted, adding, “I underplayed it a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. I also was still whispering as if we hadn’t busted the take already viciously.”
The cast marked the moment once filming stopped, with Rhodes saying, “We instead smoked a very nice cigar on set and Orville smoked one with us. It was a good moment.”
Rhodes plays Guile in the film.
