Jeff Jarrett says he hopes Jake Hager is okay following the eye injury he suffered at Power Slap 23.
Hager was left bleeding from his left eye after taking a slap from Johnny Magna at the September 17 event in Lubbock, Texas. Officials did not rule the strike a foul, and Magna was awarded the win. Hager has since undergone emergency eye surgery.
Speaking on the latest episode of My World with Jeff Jarrett, Jarrett questioned the nature of the sport, saying, “In a true competition, there’s offense and defense. In Power Slap, what is, quote unquote, defense?”
Jarrett said he is not judging the business side of Power Slap, adding, “There’s an audience for it, or Dana wouldn’t be doing it, and they’re monetizing it and all the above, so I am not judging that because it is a P&L through and through.”
He added, “But my God, if that is the real deal that you can get your eye slapped out and that’s legal, woo! What a tough way to make a living, dude. Man, I hope Jake’s okay. I really do. That was gruesome, just gruesome.”
