Chelsea Green says it bothers her when people ask whether wrestling is fake.
Speaking with PIX11 News, Green said it is usually the first thing people want to know about her job.
“I think the first question everyone has about wrestling is, ‘Is it fake?’ And that drives me nuts because I’m putting my body on the line on live television every single week. Just this year alone, I broke my ankle in two places and my orbital bone. So, I mean, no, it’s not fake.”
She compared wrestling to other types of performers.
“Would we ask a soap actress, ‘Is that real?’ Or would we ask a stunt performer when you go to a live show? What we’re doing is, it’s very much real. It’s very much dangerous. We put our bodies on the line for your entertainment. Just enjoy it. Enjoy the storyline. But what everybody on that stage achieves is extraordinary. You can’t fake jumping off the top rope.”
Green won the interim WWE Women’s Championship in a ladder match at SummerSlam in August. She broke her orbital bone in her first title match on SmackDown days later.
