John Cena says the John Cena Classic will take place in December.
Cena discussed the event on TODAY. A date and venue have not been announced.
“This year in December I’m really excited about announcing the John Cena Classic. So we’re going to do an event based off of all the memory, all the nostalgia, and the IP, and the core values of the character, which is me,” Cena said.
He listed those values as “hustle, loyalty, respect, perseverance, virtue, overcoming the odds, and giving the vote to the people.”
“Our audience is going to decide our champion on that night. So it’s a really unique live event. I don’t even know if it’s going to work. I’m still taking bold chances in the WWE space and I’m proud to be helping the John Cena Classic,” he said.
Cena announced the John Cena Classic at WWE Backlash. The event will feature main roster wrestlers facing NXT talent, with fans voting to determine the winner.
