Jeff Jarrett says John Tenta was the best of the monster heels who worked with Hulk Hogan.
On My World with Jeff Jarrett, Jarrett talked about facing Tenta, known in WWF as Earthquake, early in his WCW run. He said he was a fan of Tenta before they met.
“Out of that run of monster heels… we could go down the list of monster heels that Hogan worked with. They did a masterful job. I thought John was the best. I thought he was the absolute most believable,” Jarrett said.
He said Tenta’s athleticism stood out.
“You could tell how athletic he was. He would run those, hit those ropes up and down, do his finish, his facials, everything that went with John. I was just a huge fan of, and I knew he was a big a– dude too because him standing next to Hogan, he was wider in the shoulders and all this.”
Jarrett also pointed to Tenta’s background in Japan.
“I knew enough of his Japanese background… he’s actually a sumo wrestler.”
Jarrett said Tenta was “sweet as can be” once he got to know him.
