Jeff Jarrett says working with Vince Russo on TNA’s creative team showed him how differently two people can see the same thing.
On My World with Jeff Jarrett, Jarrett was asked what he learned from Russo.
“You learn from everybody in that how some folks’ brain works different, no matter how much you know,” Jarrett said. “Even though we’re saying the exact same word, he looked at episodic TV… different than I did.”
Jarrett said everyone on the team approached it differently.
“Dutch had a different philosophy, and Vince had it, and JB had it. We all had different philosophies on what it really meant to write episodic television.”
He said one lesson stood out.
“What did I learn? One of the things is, and I’ve had these conversations many times, if you try to shock them every week, it no longer becomes a shock. And I think there’s a difference between shock and curveball and subtleties and teasing a potential swerve but not delivering. There’s different shades of that.”
Jarrett said TNA’s creative room was never full of yes men.
“Healthy conversations around a creative table can be very beneficial… It can be very productive.”
