John Cena says his relationship with his family is strained and that it is his own choice.
In an interview with JUCA, Cena was asked who in his life still sees him as a regular person rather than a celebrity. He said he has talked about wanting to be a better brother, son and uncle.
“I say all those things because they sound nice. Every year, I seem to come up short. So, my relationship with my blood-related family is strained, and that’s my choice,” Cena said.
He said work has been his excuse.
“I always hide under the guise of work. I might be a little bit of a workaholic, but I’m trying to work through that.”
Cena said his inner circle is made up of about six to eight people who push him to improve and share his values. He called his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, the “tip of the pyramid.”
