Jeff Jarrett says the record sale of the WrestleMania III IC belt is good for the wrestling business.
The belt, owned by Jarrett’s My World co-host Conrad Thompson, sold for $716,750 at Heritage Auctions on October 24. Ricky Steamboat won it from Randy Savage at WrestleMania III.
On My World with Jeff Jarrett, Jarrett said Savage was his favorite Intercontinental Champion.
“I looked at that IC belt. I know there was a lot, but I just kind of looked at it, the Savage era. He was my favorite IC champ,” Jarrett said.
“Wrestling being the quote-unquote four-letter word through the years and ages going back to my grandmother in 1946. But when you have three quarters of a million dollars, you’re getting up into the big four of football, baseball, basketball, hockey.”
“So I love it for the industry sake as much or more than anything because a collectible sold at that value just kind of is a real snapshot. Congrats, Conrad! Congrats to all involved.”
