Rusev says his time away from WWE did not slow his momentum.
On TMZ’s Inside the Ring, Rusev was asked whether the injury came at a bad time, since he had been chasing the Intercontinental Championship.
“I don’t think I can get upset by that. Life is life. It’s a high-impact sport, especially if you do it the right way, things happen. I’ve broken my neck before, tore my knee, shoulder surgery. I don’t think it slowed down my momentum at all,” Rusev said.
“When you’re good, you’re good. You come back and plug yourself right back in and kick a– and take names. It didn’t slow my momentum at all.”
He said he still plans to win the Intercontinental Championship.
“I’ve been following the Intercontinental Title for over a year now, and I believe when the time is right, I will bring it back home, whether it’s before my son Bear or after Bear.”
Rusev and his wife, CJ Perry, are expecting their first child, a boy named Bear, in April.
