MJF will make his NJPW debut against Ryohei Oiwa at Wrestle Kingdom 21 on January 4, 2027, at the Tokyo Dome.
A video of MJF challenging Oiwa aired during Power Struggle on November 3, and Oiwa accepted.
“Hell, I’ll even sweeten up the deal. I’ll let you wrestle me on the one show that everyone in New Japan kills to be on: Wrestle Kingdom,” MJF said. “If you choose to accept my challenge, I will beat you in the middle of the ring, in the middle of that crappy little Tokyo Dome, with a move that is as simple as a headlock takeover.”
Oiwa won the G1 Climax this summer, beating Yuya Uemura in the final, but lost to Yota Tsuji when he challenged for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
It will be MJF’s first match in Japan. He has previously wrestled for NJPW only at Forbidden Door events in the United States.
