The iconic video game publisher Acclaim is back. In a message posted to social media on Tuesday, the company teased a new showcase event scheduled for Wednesday, September 10.
The announcement promises an exciting new chapter for the brand, which was a dominant force in the video game industry throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
“Tune into the #PlayAcclaim showcase on September 10th, where we will begin this exciting new chapter for #Acclaim. Join us at http://youtube.com/@PlayAcclaim as we showcase the titles that will mark the beginning of a bold new era. We’re not just back, we’re leveling up.”
The original Acclaim Entertainment was famous for publishing massive hits such as Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, and a series of popular wrestling games for WWE, WCW, and ECW. The company ceased operations in 2004, and this revival marks its first major activity in over two decades. The showcase is expected to reveal the first new titles from the revived publisher.
