A new report from Fightful Select has provided additional details on the potential for AEW pay-per-view events to be available on the Max streaming service in the near future. While it has been reported that an announcement is expected in the coming weeks, this new report sheds light on some of the discussions regarding the cost for consumers.
According to the report, it is expected that even after AEW pay-per-views are integrated into Max, they will continue to be available on other platforms, such as Prime Video and Triller internationally. However, Max will be pushed as the preferred viewing method on AEW programming.
Regarding the price point, several options have reportedly been discussed. One idea was that the monthly cost of a Max subscription would be deducted from the price of an AEW pay-per-view for subscribers. Another possibility mentioned was a flat $10 discount on pay-per-views for Max subscribers. The report notes that there has been no discussion of making the events available on the service at no additional cost, as the pay-per-view revenue is a major financial driver for the company. This would likely require a significant change to AEW’s current media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. The report also stated that at the time of the initial media rights announcement, the Max platform was not yet technically ready for live pay-per-view broadcasts.
