WWE superstar CM Punk has revealed his dream superhero role, stating that if he could play any character on screen, it would be The Punisher. The former world champion shared his pick during a fan Q&A video for GQ Sports, where he was asked which superhero he would like to portray in a movie. Punk, who has a growing acting resume that includes film and television roles, has often expressed his love for comic books and pop culture, making his choice a fitting one for his gritty and anti-hero persona. His comments, while a bit tongue-in-cheek, give fans a glimpse into his personal interests outside of the wrestling ring.
In his response, Punk first joked about his own status as a “super” figure before revealing his top choice.
“I’m CM F—ing Punk, it doesn’t get any more super than that. The Thing wants to be CM Punk. Frank Castle wants to be CM Punk. No, not really. I want to be Frank Castle, The Punisher.‘”
Unfortunately for Punk, the role of Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher, is currently occupied by Jon Bernthal, who is set to reprise the character in upcoming Marvel projects such as “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and “Daredevil: Born Again” season two. Punk was successful in his return to the ring this past Saturday at WWE WrestlePalooza, where he and his wife, AJ Lee, defeated Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch in a mixed tag team match.
