A new report from PWInsider has confirmed that the recently re-signed Santos Escobar was in attendance and backstage at the October 27 episode of Monday Night Raw in Anaheim, California. Although the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion did not appear on-screen during the live broadcast, his presence at the arena has fueled speculation that his official return to WWE television is imminent. The situation surrounding Escobar has been one of the most talked-about topics in wrestling, as he had briefly become a free agent before making a last-minute decision to remain with WWE.
Escobar’s WWE contract officially expired on October 7, and his profile was promptly moved to the alumni section of the company’s website. However, just a day later, it was reported that Escobar and WWE had come to terms on a new agreement. The last-minute deal was reportedly made after WWE addressed his creative concerns and presented a “significantly higher” financial offer. His presence at a Raw taping is particularly noteworthy, as his former Legado Del Fantasma stablemates, Angel and Berto, are members of the SmackDown roster, leading to speculation that Escobar could be reintroduced as a singles star on the red brand.
Escobar has not been a regular on WWE television since his last SmackDown match in May. His most recent in-ring appearance for the company was at the AAA x WWE Worlds Collide event in June, where he reunited with Angel and Berto for a victorious trios match. It is currently unknown when or on which brand Santos Escobar will make his official television return.
