Cody Rhodes Discusses “Infamous” January 6th Tweet And Political Misconceptions

A rematch between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns is on the horizon, but fans might not have to wait until WrestleMania 42 to see it.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is planning a showdown between The American Nightmare and The OTC for the WWE Championship following their tense exchange at the end of Survivor Series. However, the report notes that this match is “not necessarily” locked in for The Grandest Stage of Them All.

“It’s been confirmed to us that a Rhodes vs. Reigns match for the WWE title is in the plans, although not necessarily at WrestleMania,” Dave Meltzer reported.

If WWE opts to run that match earlier, the WrestleMania card could look very different. The report lists several other major bouts being considered for the event.

“Rollins vs. Breakker, Reigns vs. Punk and Rhodes against someone else could be done,” Meltzer noted.

The status of Seth Rollins is also a key factor. While Rollins has publicly stated his desire to compete at WrestleMania despite his current injury, his participation is not yet a sure thing.

“Rollins has talked about wanting to wrestle at Mania. We’ve been told this week that it is a possibility but it’s too early to determine if it can happen,” the report stated.

This leaves the top of the WrestleMania card in flux, with potential marquee matchups including Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk and Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker depending on medical clearances and creative timing.
