The landscape of NXT has been turned upside down, and General Manager Ava is set to address the chaos this Tuesday night on The CW.
Following a successful title defense against Leon Slater in the main event of last week’s episode, NXT Champion Oba Femi shocked the world by leaving his championship belt in the center of the ring and walking away. WWE confirmed the following day that the title has been officially vacated, ending Femi’s dominant reign on his own terms. Now, the question remains: what happens next for the top prize in developmental?
WWE announced on social media that Ava will speak on the situation this Tuesday, January 13. “After being vacated by @Obaofwwe, @avawwe_will address the future of the NXT Championship THIS TUESDAY on #WWENXT! 📺 8e/7c on @TheCW,” the company posted.
Speculation is rampant that a tournament will be established to crown a new champion, but with Femi’s future unclear, the entire roster will be watching Ava’s announcement closely.
In addition to the world title picture, the women’s division is also reeling from a major shakeup. Izzi Dame, the newly crowned NXT Women’s North American Champion, is scheduled to speak on the show. Dame captured the title in surprising fashion last week, answering an open challenge from Thea Hail and defeating her to claim the gold. This segment will mark her first address to the NXT Universe since her unexpected victory.
The show will also feature TNA crossover action as International Champion Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo defends his title against Shiloh Hill.
