Thekla walked out of AEW Revolution still the AEW Women’s World Champion, surviving a two-out-of-three falls match against Kris Statlander in a contest that featured ref bumps, outside interference, and championship-belt tug-of-war drama before a decisive finish.
The champion took the first fall with a bridge pin, using the ropes for extra leverage in the process. Statlander bounced back to claim the second fall, breaking out of a spider submission by driving Thekla into the turnbuckle and following up with Saturday Night Fever to even the score.
Interference From Sisters of Sun Couldn’t Save Statlander in the Decisive Fall
The third fall descended into chaos. The referee was knocked out, and Thekla seized the opportunity to grab his belt. Statlander managed to wrest it away and began using it against Thekla and the interfering Sisters of Sun — Julia Hart and Skye Blue — before the recovered referee took the belt from her hands. With Statlander momentarily disarmed, Thekla landed a spear followed by two stomps to secure the pinfall and retain the title.
It was the second successful title defense for Thekla, who won the championship from Statlander in a strap match on the February 11 episode of AEW Dynamite.
