Bill Dundee’s ashes were at Pig Fest in Hendersonville, Tennessee, where Jeff Jarrett’s wrestling show held a 10-bell salute for the Memphis wrestling star.
Dundee died in September at 82. On My World with Jeff Jarrett, Jarrett said Dundee’s family brought his car, many of his belongings and the urn with his ashes to the event. Dundee’s son Jamie, who wrestled as J.C. Ice, spoke in the ring.
Jarrett said he told one of the Pig Fest organizers, “I’m a third generation promoter, and I feel like I’ve been a part of all kind of good, bad, different, and ugly. But there is no doubt in my mind, I have never promoted a dead man and his ashes. But you pulled it off.”
He said city officials asked him about it the next day.
“They go, ‘Wait a minute, wait a minute, that was really Bill?’ I said, ‘Yes, sir. That was his ashes.’ They go, ‘Wait a minute, that was not a storyline.'”
Jarrett said Jamie got emotional backstage before speaking.
“I said, ‘You good with it? You know, you comfortable?’ I said, ‘You can talk as little or as long as you want. You know, just speak from the heart.'”
“Nothing really tops that Bill Dundee worked his final match in Hendersonville, Tennessee.”
